The Cincinnati Reds pulled off a thrilling 5-4 comeback win over the New York Yankees in 11 innings Tuesday night at Great American Ball Park. Down 3-0 in the 7th, the Reds rallied to tie it, then responded again in extras after falling behind 4-3. Elly De La Cruz sparked the 11th-inning rally with an infield single, followed by clutch at-bats from Spencer Steer, Tyler Stephenson, and pinch-hitter Gavin Lux, who walked it off. Chase Burns made a sensational MLB debut, becoming the first pitcher in the modern era to strike out the first five batters he faced, finishing with 8 K’s over 5 innings.
