The numbers are arresting. More than 23,000 people have died as a result of drug related violence in Mexico since 2006. Approximately 90 percent of the cocaine and at least half of the marijuana and methamphetamines consumed in the US come in through Mexico. Today we'll talk about the ongoing drug war in Mexico and consider the role of the US in that conflict. Guests: George Grayson, Class of 1938 Professor of Government at the College of William & Mary and author of Mexico: Narco-Violence and a Failed State?, Jason Beaubien, NPR's Mexico City Correspondent, and Bill Piper, director of national affairs for the Drug Policy Alliance.
