Today we start our yearly journey of Advent. We begin the Christian year off by looking forward to Jesus's second advent, or second coming, while preparing ourselves to celebrate Jesus's first coming on Christmas. In the text today we learn that apololyptic texts were written to give people hope in times of dispair and great turmoil.
