Based on a novel (and a play and a series of books and a series of movies and ...) by Baroness Orczy at the turn of the century, it had a number of openings, closing, rewrites, and attempts at Tony awards. Percy Blakeney marries the beautiful French woman Margaueritte only to find she's been instrumental in turning in nobility to the executioners. So, he takes on a disguise to help people escape France, chased by the relentless Chauvelin.
