Adlib is back for a new season and to kick it off we have an interview with the wonderful Alex Sumner-Hughes, resident director of the award winning Waitress the Musical in London's west end. Hear how she came to take on the role and what the day to day life of a resident director involves. 

In this episode Jessy and Henry went back down to London to talk to Nathan Brine and Maddy Mutch from the producing company Selladoor. They discuss the role of a theatre producer, project timelines and challenges facing new productions. 

This week on Adlib, Jessy and Henry talk to arts journalist, theatre critic, and academic Catherine Love. They cover topics such as mental health in  the arts, arts education, problematic revivals and objectivity versus subjectivity in arts journalism. 

SLAP festival opens this week across York (20th-23rd February 2019), so Henry and Jessy chatted with Lydia Cottrell, co-director of the festival to hear how it came about and what you can expect from the line-up this year. Tickets can be purchased through the York Theatre Royal Box Office.

2019 is the 10 year anniversary of National Theatre Live, so Jessy and Henry went and talked to Flo Buckeridge, a senior producer for NT Live to hear all about it. They discuss how it all came about, behind the scenes work as well as programming broadcasts.

This week, Jessy and Henry talk to the renowned arts journalist Lyn Gardner, about her career and the big issues facing theatre.
