A day late, but a couple bucks over value, we are here to dive into The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker. You guys know how these definitive ranking series work by now - we take 10 classic categories like dungeons, overworld, art style, music, etc. - and grade a Zelda game individually on these categories. Up to bat today is The Wind Waker. In a companion piece to our friends over at the Hyrule Compendium's own video, we tackle the game and go in depth to give you one of our longest shows yet! So a couple weeks ago on my other podcast Virtual Theater, I was telling Gooey that I wouldn't buy the recently released Final Fantasy VII Remake because it was a remake of only the first 5-10% of the game. I even said "that would be like remaking Ocarina of Time and only having the entire game take place in Kokiri Forest!". Fast forward to now, and I caved and bought FFVIIR, really enjoyed it, and felt like it offered a complete experience. So in order to not have to eat a bunch of crow, I came up with an Ocarina of Time Remake game of my own... set entirely in Kokiri Forest! Come hear my pitch on what this game could look like, what you could expand, how many dungeons you could include, and how big a re-imagined Kokiri Forest could look like! Is it an insane idea? Yes! I just finished playing a solo run of this game for the first time and have lots of thoughts - how is it solo compared to multiplayer? Is it a pain to set up? How does one player control four Link's? And then we shift over to the story, which is actually bonkers and full of lore. Did the four Royal Guards of Hyrule inspire the Champions? How is Ganondorf back if this game takes place after he's supposed to be dead? We actually get an explanation of who Dark Link is and where he comes from! And what does it have to do with the Twili?? Even if you've never played Four Swords Adventures, you do not want to miss out on this show!
