What Water ASBL is an organization that bridges the gap between European and Central African artists to provide clean water access to vulnerable populations. What Water ASBL is dedicated to realizing the United Nations' Sustainable Development Goals, with a mission to provide clean water to 8 million people by 2030. On December 1st and 2nd, 2023, What Water ASBL will hold the Melusin'art Humanitarian Exhibition at Casino Luxembourg. The purpose of the exhibition is to raise awareness about the global water crisis and generate funds to facilitate clean water access in Central Africa. Among the featured artists are Barthelemy Togo, recognized as a UNESCO artist for peace, and Jean-Marie Biwer, a prominent figure in the Luxembourg art scene for over 40 years. The Luxembourg Global Shapers Hub is part of the Global Shapers Community, an initiative launched by the World Economic Forum as a network of inspiring young people under the age of 30 working together to address local, regional and global challenges (almost 10,000 members worldwide, with more than 420 city based hubs in 154 countries). Since Monday of last week, Luxembourg doesn’t provide accommodation for newly arriving single male asylum seekers anymore. On Local Matters this week, we follow up on the situation and see on which solutions the actors in the field have been working.

Eva Klein from Philharmonie spoke with Simon about the exciting concerts and events they have coming up. The pair also spoke about Philharmonie's recent undertaking to alter the public’s perception of them. On Monday 6th November, John Malkovich is at Philharmonie in ‘The Music Critic at the Symphony’. Malkovich plays the role of a critic and reads a series of striking critical reviews on compositions considered to be masterworks today. Aleksey Igudesman has assembled the critical reviews and in this collaboration with the Luxembourg Philharmonic, he makes words and music meet anew.

For more than a week, single male asylum seekers have been denied access to the refugee shelters. They have since slept in the streets of Luxembourg.
