I would like to say that I feel for anyone impacted by the coronavirus in any capacity, along with the baseball community, where many players have worked so hard and put so much time in, just to see it all put on hold. Resilient. That would be the best word to describe T.J. Bruce. After his playing career ended, he decided he wanted to get into coaching. When he first started coaching junior college baseball he was making 5k while supporting his wife who was still in school. He was passed over three times while he was a volunteer assistant at Long Beach State for the paid position. He never gave up. After he became the head coach at the University of Nevada, he had a player pass away, and then two weeks later, his dad passed away. He held it all together and became a stronger man. IMG Academy is a preparatory boarding school that has roughly 1,300 students from all over the world. They offer several sports, including baseball. This season will be Steve’s 13 year as head coach for the Tartan Pride, and 18th as a member of the program as a player and coach. Steve has had an overall record of 501-163 including atleast 45 wins a year since 2014. In 2019 he was named OCCAC Coach of the year. He has sent over 100 players on to four year schools, including 8 from last years team that all went division 1. Last fall I actually went up to Sinclair to throw some BP and watch a practice. I was blown away with the talent level at the program. You could definelty tell Steve connects with all of his players and truly cares about them. He didn’t micro manage every aspect of practice, he let his assistants coach, and he was just over seeing everything. 18/12/2019 Duração: 45minJason is currently the Head Baseball Coach at Alamo Heights High School. However, his journey as a coach started long before that. In this episode he shares how he has grown as a coach over the years. Starting last year, he implemented Blast Motion bat sensors throughout his entire program. Every player has a blast sensor and focuses on three metrics, Bat Speed, Attack Angle, and Rotation Acceleration. Jason has individualized drills for players based off of the blast data and their performance.
