A good, tight, well-edited story! That's what's on the cards this week! Don't get us wrong, we love epic long stories, so this is in no way a condemnation of the longer flicks, rather a recognition and appreciation to those that can tell a brilliant story, start to end with less than 90 minute run times. There's an art to make movies (duh), but there's an argument to be made there's an even bigger art to making shorter movies and that's what we're here to celebrate. New Mutants is out now in cinemas, and with it's arrival, the end of an era... That's because New Mutants is the LAST EVER X-Men movies under the 20th Century Fox banner. Some of you may know that Disney recently acquired Fox in an industry shaking deal that sees them now own the likes of Simpsons, Deadpool, X-men and more. On the one hand, we can rejoice, because we will finally see the X-men in the MCU. On the other hand, it does feel almost bitter sweet. Fox were arguably the first pioneers that made Comic Book movies cool when the first X-men move released. While they have not always made the highest quality movies, and their timeline is all over the lace, we still got some all time great X-aneX-Men movies. So it's with a somewhat heavy heart that we make this episode and thank Fox for 20 years of (mostly) good to great movies. Some films are so overrated... Sometimes, even best picture winners are overrated. Especially when you consider who the winner beat to win the best picture Oscar. Dances with Wolves beating Goodfellas, Driving Miss Daisy beating My Left Foot for example. We won't say more to avoid giving too much away, but you see what we're getting at! Sometimes, it's not even down to who they beat, they could be deserving winners due to lack of competition, but just as a whole one could find the film to be over-rated.
