Reigning Olympic gold medalist Gwen Jorgensen leaves triathlon for marathon

She placed 2nd in the 2011 World Championship Series in London, earning a spot on the 2012 USA Olympic triathlon team. In the following years, she wracked up countless podium finishes in the World Triathlon Series before winning Gold at the 2016 Summer Olympics in Rio. She had a baby in early 2017 and later in the year, Jorgensen announced she'd be retiring from triathlon and focusing on marathon running -- with an aim to win Olympic gold in Tokyo 2020.
