Second Chances, Make it Mean Something, and Something Good Out of Something Bad. Every prior episode's theme is carried over into the next episode and, in this one, the only words that seem to remain present in my mind are Troy Otto's at the end of episode 7, Anton, what are you even fighting for? Perhaps the truth really does lie somewhere in between.

Everything gets a return -- Every character in this episode is connected and violently confronted by the same trauma that's plagued them from the beginning of their arduous journey; but it takes the next generation - who crystalizes any possible hope for the future - to finally push them over that seemingly insurmountable hump.

Fear The Walking Dead pushes the envelope, continuing the theme of second chances from the previous episode, by giving us yet another long awaited - yet unanticipated - reunion between Madison Clark and Charlie. An expression we haven't used in a while, with respect to Fear The Walking Dead, bears repeating: you may not get what you want, but you'll like what you get.

The reunion between Madison Clark and Victor Strand -- whoops, I mean Anton -- didn't go as smoothly as most of us would've hoped. Victor fulfilled Alicia Clark's wishes the only way he knew how: by burying his past and himself for the last 7+ years. But what will Madison do as a result of Troy Otto exhuming all her skeletons?

If home is where the heart is, what happens when your heart is torn in two? There's breaking the cycle (of melodrama) and completing a long broken circle in the Dixon line. Where Daryl Dixon goes from here is anyone's guess!

We continue to gain forward momentum as we take an uncharted voyage into Daryl Dixon's psyche while Isabelle prepares to, yet again, martyr herself to protect both her little messiah, Laurent, and her unflinching protector.

As things start to pick up, the dots are starting to connect more: Isabelle's past threatens everyone's future; Laurent is coming into his perceived role in the Zombie Apocalypse; Sylvie might not be the bad-ass we thought she might be; Stéphane Codron finds his man; Genet's and Pouvoir Des Vivants might be trying to END walkers(?); and all their journeys reflect that of our protagonist, Daryl Dixon.

The second installment of TWD: Daryl Dixon rolls on with some emotional development: assessing the value of "hope", sure, but mostly the weight/cost of promises broken. RJ Gaines from Giddings, Texas - the Lonestar State - is the MVP of this episode, followed by Mork & Mindy, with all the ways the latter is deeply intertwined with this particular episode.

TWD Universe continues it's season of spin-offs with the long-awaited The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon, which has already pleasantly surprised skeptics and is already heartily filling the vacuum that was left behind since the flagship series had its finale almost a year ago. We can already tell that Daryl Dixon's journey through France will be one to watch.
