Today is Friday, March 4, 2016 and we’re ready for this week’s 4 pack. You listeners seem to really like the scary stuff. Last week it was Quiet Please and this week it’s Lights Out. There are some similarities between the two shows. Both were created by Willis Cooper, however, Arch Obler took over Lights Out In 1937 after a three year run with Willis Cooper. The 4 classic episodes we picked out for you and all feature Boris Karlof. The first one was first aired on April 27, 1943 and is titled Execution. It isv the story of a French woman the Nazis are trying to hang. Second episode Is The Dream which aired on March 23, 1938. It is the story of an excused murderer who is haunted by an unearthly creature Played by Templeton Fox. This stranger is urging him to KILL KILL KILL.Episode 3 is Bathysphere. This one is a political thriller about a scientist and a dictator sharing a deep-sea diving Bell. And lastly you will hear A Visitor From Hades which aired July 13, 1943. It is a spooky tale about a arguing married

It was then moved to Hollywood Where it would be produced through 1955. William Gargan was the voice of Barry Craig And Ralph Bell plays associate Lieutenant Travis Rogers. Dark Fantasy was a short old time radio series with tales of the weird and supernatural, created by Scott Bishop. The series aired as a horror drama on NBC between 1941 and 1942.Dark Fantasy originated from radio station WKY in Oklahoma City and was written by Scott Bishop (of Mysterious Traveler and The Sealed Book fame) and was heard Fridays over stations. Father Knows Best was a popular American radio and television sitcom that began on NBC Radio on August 25th, 1949. It starred Robert Young as General Insurance agent Jim Anderson. His wife Margaret was first portrayed by June Whitley and later by Jean Vander Pyl. The Anderson children were Betty (Rhoda Williams), Bud (Ted Donaldson) and Kathy (Norma Jean Nillson). Others in the cast were Eleanor Audley, Herb Vigran and Sam Edwards. Sponsored by General Foods, the series was heard Thursday evenings on NBC until November 19, 1953. Gang Busters was an American dramatic radio program heralded as “the only national program that brings you authentic police case histories.” It premiered as G-Men, sponsored by Chevrolet, on July 20, 1935. After the title was changed to Gang Busters on January 15, 1936, the show had a 21-year run through November 20, 1957.

This Week’s Winner is H.G. Wells Classic The War of the Worlds performed by Orson Welles and the Mercury Theater on the air. This show was originally aired on Halloween night, 1938 and boy did it frighten a lot of folks. Below you can watch the PBS American Experience episode outlining all the horror that took place after it’s airing along with some insight as to what Orson Welles was really thinking.
