  • 100NO 459: How we’re setting goals in 2022

    09/01/2022 Duração: 22min

We both believe here at 100 Not Out that having a goal – or goals – to aim at is important life. But we’re also of the view that there are many ways to go about setting up 2022 for victory, and knowing how YOU like to craft your year – and life – is incredibly important. From going with the flow to over-analysing every single-bitty detail of life, there’s often a happy medium that we each can find in order to live the 100 Not Out lifestyle. On this episode Damo shares his process, and Marcus shares his – in the hope that you find it a little easier – and more fulfilling – in writing your own script for 2022 as a result of listening to this episode. • 100NO 458: Damo’s 2022 Health & Wellness Predictions

    02/01/2022 Duração: 23min

By popular demand it’s back again! Damo shares his insights on what 2022 will look like in the health and wellness world. To be specific, we look at diet and exercise – and what you think might be big in 2022 won’t be the case – according to Damo. COVID has changed the way we do health and wellness, and maybe for the better. When you listen to this episode, it’s more than likely that you’ll want to be a part of the trend Damo sees kicking off (or resuming) in 2022. With paleo here and gone again, vegan still being popular, keto somewhere in the middle – what is the big diet of 2022? And with group exercise out the door during COVID and app-based exercise booming, how will it look this year? All is revealed on the 9th edition of our annual predictions! • 100NO 457: What a year! Reflecting on 2021

    26/12/2021 Duração: 26min

2021 brought home some pretty powerful lessons for all of us. What wasn’t working in our life got magnified (from job dissatisfaction to unhappy relationships), and so did the things we feel like we are winning in. More than ever, “the simple things in life are often the best” came to roost. If we weren’t able to have the simple things (family time, friendships, etc), it became abundantly clear what impact this had on our mental, physical and emotional health. And if we were able to get it, it’s likely been what has got us through. So, reflecting on the highs and lows of a big year – we hope you enjoy

  • 100NO 455: Broken hips, finding balance and choosing acceptance

    12/12/2021 Duração: 24min

It’s been quite the week at 100 Not Out. After Damo”s big 48th birthday episode, Marcus ventured on a family holiday that had been attempted 3 times prior. Like so many, COVID lockdowns and hotspots had cancelled the trip three times. But on the fourth, nine cousins and 7 adults all came together … and on the fourth day, Marcus broke his hip whilst skateboarding with his 2 year old. Fun and games might sometimes end in disaster, but that’s not the attitude we’re taking here. We discuss the metaphors of health conditions, the beauty of modern medicine and natural health alternatives, and the reason why anything but acceptance and grace of things we cannot change is futile. • 100NO 454: Are you a hoarder or a chucker?

    05/12/2021 Duração: 30min

On this episode, having both moved house recently, we share our experiences in hoarding and chucking. And then we go a bit deeper as to the emotional attachment to material possessions, and whether it impacts our health and to a greater extent, longevity. • 100NO 453: Mid-life Musings as Damo turns 48

    28/11/2021 Duração: 28min

It’s a big week at 100 Not Out. Damo has just turned 48, his son Jackson is about to have his 21st Birthday, and Marcus is about to see a large chunk of his family for the time in more than 2 years. These significant events have Marcus & Damo pondering about what quality of life looks like as we get older. When is mid-life exactly? Why are children’s birthdays such powerful events for reflection? And so much more. • 100NO 451: Diet panic, shaving with avocado and other lifestyle lessons

    14/11/2021 Duração: 33min

We’re often asked what have we learnt along the way of interviewing hundreds of graceful agers on 100 Not Out and beyond. From panicking about our food choices, to going so hardcore that avocado was used instead of shaving cream – we’ve made our fair share of ‘interesting’ decisions over the journey. We’d like to think this episode is filled with self-deprecating humour – and whilst we hope you laugh your way through much of this episode, we also hope it shows that the more extreme decisions in relation to health and wellness are often the least beneficial (in the long term). • 100NO 450: Raising Children – What we would have done differently & wish we knew earlier

    07/11/2021 Duração: 25min

Andrew Bevin has sent in a question, asking – “Hey guys. Long time listener here in Wellington, NZ since 2016. Have easily listened to hundreds of these pods + Wellness Guys until it finished up too. Appreciate you guys a lot and love the work you do! Anyway, you’re always asking for questions and I have one. I’m now a first-time dad-to-be, so I thought I’d ask how living a one hundred not out lifestyle shapes you as a parent. What have you learnt, what did you wish you knew earlier, and what would you do differently? Thought that this could spark an interesting conversation. Cheers!” Thanks for your question Andrew – and to everyone in our community we hope you enjoy this episode! • 100NO 449: The Art of Generosity in an often-selfish world

    31/10/2021 Duração: 25min

The act of giving (and expecting nothing in return) is as good as a lost art in modern society. After a treachorous COVID-19 period, where we’ve often had to fend for ourselves and ensure our basic needs of shelter and food are met, many of us have struggled to give to others. But that doesn’t mean it’s not imporant. In fact, it’s arguably more important than ever to contribute to society, especially when no one expects it. That doesn’t have to be through gifts – manners, complements, and many non-material offerings can be just as valuable as those with a price tag on it. And when the art of generosity is mastered, a greater level of fulfilment in life is there for the taking. • 100NO 447: Did Wellness Miss an Opportunity with COVID?

    17/10/2021 Duração: 25min

Today we answer a question from one of our loyal listeners, Pete Lennon. “Gentlemen – I have a question I think would be good to explore. Given that healthy people have better outcomes than those who are chronically sick against COVID, have us involved in the wellness industry squandered an incredible opportunity to influence a greater population by being caught up in all sorts of conspiracy narratives. This is a general question. Not aimed at individuals and certainly not you guys.” A fascinating question – and we hope you find the answer just as interesting

    10/10/2021 Duração: 32min

Today we pay homage to a previous guest of 100 Not Out, Ada Murkies. Ada passed away recently aged 98, and it would be remiss of us not to remember and replay for you Ada’s incredible outlook on life. Imagine this: It’s 1940 and Ada Murkies is a young Polish teenager of 17 when she hears a knock at the door. It’s 2 o’clock in the morning and it’s Russian army officers, demanding they pack their belongings within 2 hours and prepare to be deported to Siberia. Ada, her brother and sister, mother and grandmother are loaded on to the cattle cart and offloaded to Siberia – a TWO week journey. Once there, they work in the gold mines and forestries in COLD WINTERS we can’t even imagine. All the the while the family awaits news of Ada’s father, an officer in the Polish army, only to find that he is one of the 20,000 poles murdered in the infamous Katyn Forest massacre. When news hits that Poland is creating an army to support Russia in its bid to defeat Hitler, Ada immediately enlists. What happens next? Well, this i

  • 100NO 445: Does organ removal impact longevity?

    03/10/2021 Duração: 29min

If you’ve had organs or other body parts removed, will you live a shorter life? This question, posed by wonderful 100 Not Out listener and community member, Bron, is the topic of today’s episode. Her full question (provided here with Bron’s permission) is – “As Damo would know I am a patient of his. I am 44 next week and have to date had several organs removed. Stomach – due to cancer, gall bladder, appendix, full hysterectomy. What effect does organ removal have on longevity? As I’ve always thought everything works together and has a function and place. Particularly the stomach and gall bladder. I am surprised how well and healthy I live without them. But it does concern me that it has shortened my life. A big thanks to Damo for his awesome guidance.” Thanks so much for your question Bron. If you have a question you would like to be discussed then send it through to marcus@marcuspearce.com.au or DM us on Facebook  or Instagram. • 100NO 444: Are we becoming too judgemental?

    26/09/2021 Duração: 25min

Does judgement get us down? Does it make us feel flat, frustrated, anxious and argumentative? Damo had a conversation recently with a friend who said he had become quite judgemental and realised what impact it was having on his emotions. Practicing non-judgement may seem impossible and almost useless. But what of judging less? And what of being more curious? We discuss all of this and more on episode 444 of 100 Not Out.
