Throwdown Thursday

This week Patsy and Ashes take on James McAvoy's role as Kevin Wendell Crumb in the second installment of the Eastrail 177 trilogy, Split. They are once again joined by Ripken of the Derailers as they discuss dissociative identity disorder and how the power of the mind contributes to this story, the incredible skill exhibited by McAvoy in the way he portrays the multiple identities within Crumb. This week Patsy and Ashes hop aboard Eastrail 177 to talk about David Dunn AKA The Overseer and Elijah Price AKA Mister Glass from M. Night Shyamalan's 2000 film Unbreakable.  But they're not traveling alone, they're joined by Ripken from The Derailers podcast! They talk baseball, curses and of course, animated tv shows! Patsy asks about his fan theories and even pitches a Simpsons joke! All this, plus a battle, Mike's unique sense of humor, a bonus Thanksgiving science fact and more! 

Patsy and Ashes are talking about the characters of F is For Family this week and have a special guest along for the ride! Miles, Mr. Most Days Off himself joins the party to talk all about Frank, Sue, Kevin, Bill, Maureen and the rest of the crazy characters from the Netflix- exclusive animated series. This week Patsy and Ashes wrap up their Universal Monsters theme with The Wolfman! They discuss their favorite werewolf transformations, how creepy Lon Cheney's character in the original film was (in more ways than one), how the film exemplified white male privilege, and the evolution of the character. Halloween might have come and gone, but that means nothing to Patsy and Ashes because they live Halloween every day and to prove it they continue their cavalcade of Universal Monsters with The Creature From the Black Lagoon! Focusing mostly on the Bela Lugosi version they talk about mythology and folklore surrounding vampires as well as some of their favorite depictions of the character. It's Ashtober! That means it's time for spooky, scary stuff and we're kicking off this month with a bang and diving into one of the most recognizable names in horror, FRANKENSTEIN! Patsy and Ashes discuss the origins of the source material, the Universal films and other iterations of the character (both monster and doctor). But they're not on this journey alone, they've got monster experts Sam Furst and Steve Van Samson in the carriage with them as they travel where most folks fear to tread!
