With socialism all the rage on the left these days, Cam dives in to the 1955 book Reflections on the Failures of Socialism.  Written by Max Eastman, who was one of the early leaders of American socialism before turning to the right, the book provides an excellent source for rebutting the arguments of today's supporters of a Green New Deal and the central planning that would come with it.

Miss E's feeling good, which means a day date in town for both her and Cam.  Plus, cold weather means hot food, and Miss E's been making beef stew and Carolina Cat's Head Cheese Biscuits!  They want to know your cold weather comfort food, plus Cam has a big update on the NRATV program "Cam & Co."  

Cam and Miss E are back with a rain-soaked post-Christmas wrap-up of their holiday on the farm complete with the booziest fruitcake ever made, an easy way to brine your own ham for the holidays, seasons greetings from fellow fools, as well as some serious concerns about how their septic system is holding up during one of the wettest years on record for Virginia.

Cam’s sharing one of his nerdier hobbies: reading old non-fiction books in the hopes of gaining a better understanding of both where we’ve been and where we’re going. This week, Cam dives into “The Holy Barbarians”, a 1959 study of the Beat Generation that, surprisingly, has quite a bit to say about today’s media sensationalism.

Owning an old home is great if you love history and DIY home improvement projects. This week, Cam and Miss E head to the cellar to deal with a plumbing problem, which leads to another problem... and maybe a solution.Plus, Cam has some new garden tech to preview and check-ins with some fellow “fools” from across the country.

The first big snowstorm of the winter is falling as Cam and Miss E sit down at the kitchen table this week. Stuck inside, Miss E's spending a lot of time in the kitchen making Christmas cookies and Vietnamese pho (one of her favorite cold weather dishes) while Cam's been romping through the snow with Zelda and Bulleit the farmdogs.  There's some off-farm news to talk about as well with New Jersey's awful new magazine ban going into effect, and a listener writes in to say goodbye to a beloved friend.

Cam and Miss E are back!  After an extended break, the couple is back with the latest from the farm, holiday cooking ideas, and a very big update on Miss E’s cancer fight.

The start of spring is still several weeks away, at least according to the calendar, but on the 40 Acres there are already signs that it’s here.  The black locust trees are budding, the emerald green shoots of wild onions are popping up from the ground, and there are bouncing baby goats frolicking in the yard. Join Cam and Miss E at the kitchen table for a sneak peek at their plans for the farm, as well as check-ins and updates from fellow fools across the country. 

After a couple of road trips, Cam’s finally back on the farm and suddenly spring seems right around the corner with lots of work to be done before this year’s planting begins.  In the meantime, though, Cam and Miss E are waiting to find out if her most recent cancer treatment is working.  Cam has a story demonstrating the true ingenuity of farmers, plus details on the best-loved chicken in Texas, and the tale of one fellow fool going from city living to his own homesteading adventure.

Ahead of a cold front and the first hard freeze of the fall, Cam and Miss E are working to build winter quarters for the bacon seeds.  Cam’s also taking a look back at the recently concluded elections in Virginia, with some words of warning for complacent or apathetic voters across the country.  Plus, a listener writes in with the bittersweet and increasingly common story of returning home after decades away to care for his aging parents.    

The Carolina Reaper is the hottest pepper known to man, and right now there are three half gallon jars full of the bright red fireballs fermenting in Cam & Miss E's kitchen, thanks to some bartering with a listener. Plus, the pair are dealing with potentially pregnant pigs, and the slow end of the 2017 growing season.  

Cam and Miss E are starting to wind down this year's garden, pulling up tomato plants as well as the pumpkin patch. They're getting some "help" from the newest addition to the 40 acres; Zelda, the Great Pyrenees puppy who's quickly reaching legendary status on and off the farm. 

The calendar’s turned from summer to fall, and this year’s garden is starting to come to an end.  Cam and Miss E are at the (rickety) picnic table on an autumn evening to talk about the new kid on the farm, surrendering to squash bugs, and a trip to the NRA’s World Shooting Championship in rural West Virginia.
