‘So Last Season’ Chelsea FanCast #1059
04/09/2023 Duração: 01h25minStamford Chidge & Jonathan Kydd are joined by Martin Wickham to look back at a horribly familiar defeat to Nottingham Forest. We discuss failing to finish AGAIN - although Chelsea played ok with creative intent, forward momentum, movement which is a change from last season, and Forest defended very well. Sterling was relatively poor and Gusto needs to learn how to cross; Jackson had a poor game but will get better or is he the new Salomon Kalou? We look at Pochettino's selection - he is playing 4 at the back not 3, but is Colwill a left back and is Chilwell a winger? Cole Palmer on his debut and Madueke looked good; Mudryk has a way to go yet; Enzo class and Caicedo improving. In part two we discuss what’s the hate with Silva about? Would Pochettino consider a change in formation and selection – Sanchez: Chilwell, Silva, Disasi, Gusto/James: Enzo, Moises; Sterling, Palmer/Gallagher, Madueke; Jackson? With an average age of squad at 22.5 years the team has no experience at this level and it shows and will t

Chelsea FanCast Preview Show #1058
01/09/2023 Duração: 01h57minStamford Chidge & Jonathan Kydd are joined by Dayne Whittle to look back at the win against Wimbledon and ahead to Nottingham Forest on Saturday. In part one we are joined by Liam Twomey from The Athletic to look back at Wednesday nights 2-1 win in the Carabao Cup over AFC Wimbledon. A banana skin was avoided as Chelsea made relatively hard work of beating League 2 side Wimbledon proving that making changes doesn’t work and possibly revealing a lack of squad depth. Enzo and the big guns came to the rescue and Captain Conor Gallagher excelled again.Liam gives us the latest from Transfer Window Deadline day including his take on the runoured exits of Conor Gallagher, Ian Maatsen and Trevoh Chalobah. In part two we welcome Adam Wiklo from the Red Side of the Trent podcast for our 'Opposition View'. What does Adam think of Forest’s start to the season and their transfer business? Adam discusses Awoniyi’s electric form and the key players and threats for Saturday as well his match prediction. In part three we pre

‘A Rise in the Value of Sterling’ Chelsea FanCast #1056
29/08/2023 Duração: 01h21minStamford Chidge & Jonathan Kydd are joined by Dan Silver to look back at an encouraging 3-0 win against Luton Town.In part one: Sterling was superb – has he turned a corner? Chelsea are making progress but there's still room for improvement. All the goals were good goals; quick transitions and attacking play; no stodge, but we went flat either side of half time. Jackson gets off the mark – massively important. Enzo shows his class; Caicedo channels his inner Kante. Conor excellent again – let’s hope he doesn’t get sold this week.In part two: Lukaku to Roma; thank fcuk! Squad depth: is it an issue with a bench of youngsters? Petrovic signed; will Poch get another attacker? Cucurella to Utd? Mike Dean is a **** – who knew?In part three we preview Chelsea v AFC Wimbledon in the Carabao Cup. We kick off with Chidge’s Team selections and ask with 9 players out injured, is there no room for much rotation? We take a look at AFC Wimbledon: memories from past matches and reveal who played for both Chelsea and Wimb

Chelsea FanCast #1006 'Meet the New Season, same as the Old Season?'
21/08/2023 Duração: 01h16minStamford Chidge & Jonathan Kydd are joined by Martin Wickham to look back on muggy 3-1 defeat away to West Ham.In part one we discuss another poor start, a great goal by Chukwuemeka and a poor penalty from Enzo, which arguably turned the match. Why didn't Jackson take it? And then a comedy of errors from Disasi and Colwill led to an Antonio scorcher which turned it in West Ham's favour. In part two we discuss whether Mudryk is being weighed down by expectations. Sterling gets the plaudits for a decent performance. Jackson impressed again but was out muscled by two giants, on his own and crowded out. Caicedo probably shouldn't have come on and unsurprisingly looked at sea and off the pace - not his fault. Pochettino needs to sort his system out and play the formation that best suits the players he has available. West Ham away was a reality check and it’s going to take time to gel this team. And Lewis Hall off to Newcastle? Are we sacrificing the youth for profit? In part two we have the Opposition View with James Jones from 'We Are West Ham'. We discuss how good did it feel for West Ham to win a European trophy? How did James feel about Rice leaving for Arsenal? Can and are West Ham replacing Rice? And is there still disquiet over Moyes? Will he see the season out? James gives us his predictions for the match on Sunday and for West Ham's season. In part three we preview West Ham v Chelsea. We kick off with Chidge's team selection. How big a blow losing Reece? Will Caicedo to start? What about Lavia? Can we consign Chelsea’s recent away form to the bin - 1 clean sheet across their previous 13 PL road trips (W2, D3, L8). West Ham have a decent record at the London Stadium v Chelsea

Is Mudryk a better option? Is Chuk really the number 10 option? How did Sanchez do? And with Kepa loaned to Madrid we ask why not a sale, what’s the upside? Caicedo is now officially blue; Liverpool have red mist. Is FFP is a red herring due to amortisation? 'Rebirth of the Blues' Chelsea FanCast #999
01/06/2023 Duração: 52minStamford Chidge interviews Chelsea author Neil Fitzsimon about his new book 'Rebirth of the Blues'.Having chronicled Chelsea's 1970 FA Cup winning side in 'Rhapsody in Blue' and Eddie McCreadie's promotion side in 'A Deeper Shade of Blue', Neil has turned his sights to the period between 1977-1985.One of the nost turbulent periods in Chelsea's history, it was a period when Chelsea narrowly escaped relegation into the Third Division in 1983, before being resurrected under the management of John Neal when the likes of Kerry Dixon, Pat Nevin and others catapulted the club to new glories. The next year, Chelsea took the Second Division by storm with their new brand of quicksilver flowing football to make a triumphant return to the top flight as champions. But Rebirth of the Blues is more than just a chronicle of football history. It’s a gripping memoir of a Chelsea fan growing up in the late 1970s to mid-80s and his experiences of living through the political unrest of Thatcherite Britain when excess an

“Over and Out” Chelsea FanCast #998
30/05/2023 Duração: 02h02minStamford Chidge is joined by Jonathan Kydd (from his hospital bed!), Clayton Beerman and Dayne Whittle to review the last match of the season against Newcastle. And breathe. Yes, Chelsea's worst season for nearly 30 years is finally consigned to the dustbin where it belongs. We look back at the last match against Newcastle, where Chelsea did ok against a Newcastle side clearly sipping cocktails on the beach. The usual profligacy in front of goal by Chelsea; why break the cycle eh lads? Of more interest was who might be playing their last game? Azpi with a superb banner to honour him? Loftus-Cheek who gave the "I'm off" clap to all four stands in the ground? Mason Mount who looked tearful in the lap of appreciation. We know Frank is off and he got a well deserved warm send off. But it's now "Hello, hello, Pochettino; Pochettino!" as our new manager has been announced. Interestingly one of his first decisions may have been to refuse to put an offer in on Felix who is set to return to Atletico Madrid. We wrap up p

Chelsea FanCast Preview Show #997
26/05/2023 Duração: 01h24minStamford Chidge & Jonathan Kydd look back at another painfuil Chelsea defeat, away to Man Utd and ahead to the last match of the season at home to Newcastle Utd.In part one we discuss a better 1st half performance but Keystone Kop defending and inability to finish kill us again. Midfield looked better – well done Chuk and Hall impressed again, but in defence, Fofana instigated the collapse in the second half with two poor mistakes. At least Felix scored a good consolation goal. Are there parallels with the 4-0 defeat at Old Trafford meted out in his first match in charge in 2019? And how valid are his comments about poor attitude from training ground to pitch? And respect to the superb Chelsea away support, who out sang Utd from start to finish. In part two we look ahead to the match against Newcastle United. Will Frank play 'da Yoof' again or go for experience in his last match at the helm? While Chelsea has been breaking all the wrong records this season, they do have an imperious record at home v Newcas
