This weekend we celebrate Palm Sunday. This was the day Jesus rode a donkey into Jerusalem while the crowds laid down palm branches in the road and shouted, “Hosanna! Blessed is He who comes in the name of the Lord!” (Mark 11:9 NKJV). There was an air of expectancy in Jerusalem. The name of Jesus was on everyone’s lips. In fact, Luke’s gospel tells us, “The crowd was listening to everything Jesus said. And because he was nearing Jerusalem, he told them a story to correct the impression that the Kingdom of God would begin right away” (Luke 19:11 NLT). In other words, they thought this was it. Many pastors are asked a variation of one particular question. Can I do such-and-such and still be a Christian? It’s never “can I tithe and still be a Christian?” It’s always something questionable, or clearly sinful. God wants us to have a successful finish and part of that means helping Him reach those around us. Whenever God is at work, the devil will be there to oppose. Satan is real and powerful. Jesus is much more powerful than Satan. The best defense is a good offense. During these events in Ukraine, many people are asking whether this crisis has anything to do with Bible prophecy. Pastor Greg Laurie gives his answer: We’re all aware of what’s happening over in the Ukraine right now. They’re under attack from Russia, and people have asked the question, “Is there any significance to all of this prophetically?” Let me pull the camera back and say this: I believe we’re living in the last days. I believe Christ could come back at any moment. There are signs of the times the Bible tells us to be looking for. And in fact, Jesus likened it to labor pains in a woman who’s ready to give birth, the idea being the closer they get together, the closer you are to the birth.
