  • State of the Nova Nation: Jay Wright speaks on newest COVID pause, NCAA Tournament in Indiana, and more!

    05/01/2021 Duração: 44min

The Villanova Wildcats were dealt another tough bit of news. After undergoing a COVID-related shutdown shortly after the Marquette game, the Wildcats returned for practice on Sunday, only to be back on hiatus less than 24 hours later, after two players tested positive for the coronavirus. Head coach Jay Wright shared some thoughts and insight on the situation, as he manages the team from afar and goes through the final day of his personal quarantine. As a result of the postponement, the Wildcats will miss their next three games and may return in time for their Jan. 15 game against the UConn Huskies. Also, the NCAA announced that the entire men's college basketball championship tournament will be played entirely in Indiana, a move that it contemplated doing earlier in the season, but has confirmed it. Jeremiah Robinson-Earl led a strong, balanced, all-around effort by the 'Cats, as Villanova won by 20 points. Maybe his facemask is filled with good luck? Now, the Wildcats are refocusing back on Big East play, as they prepare for a trip to Milwaukee to take on the Marquette Golden Eagles. Also, we react to social media reactions to the Villanova-St. John's game on Dec. 30 being postponed. We top things off with a crowded mailbag before going on a holiday hiatus. See you in 2021! 17/12/2020 Duração: 47min

Villanova Wildcats head coach Jay Wright picked up his 600th win on Wednesday night against the Butler Bulldogs. Villanova tempered the flames from a hot Butler start, took the lead, and eventually pulled away late to win 85-66 in the Wildcats' home opener. Before and after the game, Wright was pretty low-key about his milestone achievement and his players were taken by surprise. Also, there's a funny story about Fr. Peter in there as well. Now, the Wildcats are searching for a replacement game since they are unable to play against the Virginia Cavaliers. We get an update on how that search is going, and toss a few ideas. We also have a wide-ranging mailbag of questions. Learn more about your ad choices. Visit podcastchoices.com/adchoices

Villanova heated up from long range, then clamped down on the defensive end to go ahead and ultimately win, 76-63. With the DePaul Blue Demons undergoing a COVID-related shutdown, the 'Cats now turn their attention to the Butler Bulldogs in their first true home game at Finneran Pavilion on Wednesday night. It's a new-look Butler team that has also faced its share of COVID-related shutdowns and will be playing its first game since Nov. 25. 01/12/2020 Duração: 54min

Apologies! Some technical issues caused by the recording device affected the final audio, so as a way to protect your ears from static and blown out audio, the best compromise was to make it sound like AM radio...which you'll see what we mean. This episode focuses on the Villanova Wildcats' season-opening early-season tournament win at the 2K Empire Classic, followed by a disappointing loss to Virginia Tech in overtime. With St. Joe's shutting down for COVID-related reasons, the Wildcats have scheduled a new impromptu opponent in Bubbleville: the Hartford Hawks. Learn more about your ad choices. We also attempt to begin to piece together what the potential rotation looks like. It's a close to impossible task to truly project the rotation with the abundance of talented returners.
