With the Academy Awards around the corner, Assistant Professor of Theatre Shelly Gaza talks Oscars, representation (including #Oscarssowhite) and the place of politics at award shows with Amanda Andrews. “It’s the artist’s job to be honest and open about what we see in our society,” Gaza said. “Some people think it’s an actors place to shut up and perform but I think that’s a real disservice to the talent and the credit and the intellect of these actors and other artists in the film industry.”
