Episódios

  • Episode 536: Newton's Laws & Chiropractic

    21/11/2023 Duração: 25min

Newton's laws are relevant to so many topics. In this talk, Dr Rubin is talking to the NY Chiropractic Council about Newton's 1st law (bodies in motion and at rest) and 3rd law (equal and opposite reactions) and how they are so applicable and parallel to what a chiropractic adjustment does. Read an interesting twist regarding Newton's laws here: https://www.behavioraleconomics.com/the-three-laws-of-human-behavior/

  • Episode 535: Why I do what we do...

    13/11/2023 Duração: 13min

"You never know how far reaching something you may think say or do will affect the lives of millions tomorrow." When I was in college, I worked at a home for the developmentally disabled because a friend of mine knew I needed a job and she worked there. It was an unexpectedly amazing experience, and that paved the way for me now taking care of so many kids with developmental issues! You never know!!!

  • Episode 534: "What to do about your brain-injured child"

    07/11/2023 Duração: 21min

"What to do about your brain-injured child" is one of my top 3 books that should be required reading for any pediatric chiropractor. Most health care providers work on the highest level of challenged function but this book teaches you to find the lowest level of brain issue and work from there. This concept was revolutionary in my practice! Originally recorded for Chirosecure

  • Episode 533: What's inside an acorn?

    31/10/2023 Duração: 13min

Look inside an acorn. What do you find? A miniature oak tree? Actually, you find what looks sort of like dust and an egg yolk. Somehow that stuff knows how to turn into a 100 foot tree, IF (and it's a big IF), all the right stuff happens. Isn't that the same with each one of us? What lessons can we learn from an acorn?

  • Episode 532: "Maturational Dysregulation"

    24/10/2023 Duração: 07min

The concept of "maturational dysregulation" as discussed in one of Dr. Robert Melillo's 2022 paper (see link below) explains how kids with ADHD have issues with common findings such as impulsivity, inattention and hyperactivity. The brain matures from the bottom-up, and then top-down regulation occurs...but if the bottom-up maturity isn't complete, then issues like impulsivity, inattention and hyperactivity are more likely. • Episode 531: How do we really reach kids?

    17/10/2023 Duração: 11min

Kids are generally ignored in most doctor's offices except for someone doing something to them. How do we really reach kids? By paying attention to them. By making them feel special and important. By not judging them. By making them feel loved!

  • Episode 530: Rise in Autism = Improve our skills

    10/10/2023 Duração: 06min

The rise in Autism has created a huge demand for pediatric chiropractors around the world who are trained in how to take care of kids on the spectrum. Webster said, "taking care of kids is not like taking care of little adults"...I will add to that "taking care of kids with Autism is not like taking care of a neurotypical child."

  • Episode 529: Questions Answered

    03/10/2023 Duração: 24min

What is the most important item in an associate contract? How do you know where to practice? How do you get new patients in the door when you first start as an associate? These are some of the questions asked by soon to be chiropractors...

  • Episode 528: Evidence-based?

    26/09/2023 Duração: 08min

Two recent non-chirorpractic science articles that I read are both 'evidence-based' but the big question in my mind is not the 'evidence.' Rather it is the understanding of the concept: science can do something, but SHOULD they? Should they create brain organelles? Should they teach neurons to do tasks? Yes... science now has the technology to do so, but at what future cost?

  • Episode 527: Tallest Tree

    19/09/2023 Duração: 09min

Some things never change. What lessons can we learn from that concept? The climate crisis didn't really start in the 1900's but with the beginnings of 'modern civilization' and the creation of cities. It accelerated with the rampant use of fossil fuel but it's been going on for centuries!

  • Episode 526: Honoring Jimmy Buffett

    12/09/2023 Duração: 15min

Jimmy Buffett, one of my favorite musicians and a legend in the music industry, passed away recently. Always been amazed by Jimmy Buffett's incredible ability to create something out of an idea. Imagine all the brain power behind taking 1 hit song, Margaritaville, and literally turning it into a mega-business worth $1 Billion! He turned his business into a brand, something chiropractic needs to learn! Hope you are having 'cheeseburgers in paradise', Jimmy!

  • Episode 525: "Polyvagaling"

    05/09/2023 Duração: 11min

The Polyvagal Theory is critical to learn and understand especially in a pediatric based practice. It is about setting up a zone of safety and then basing your examination and adjustment technique on where they fall on the Polyvagal Scale.

  • Episode 524: The Big Idea

    29/08/2023 Duração: 13min

"With it, nations rise. Without it, nations fall. This is the biggest idea I know of." So wrote BJ Palmer in his 1949 text, 'The BIgness of the Fellow Within', one of the famed 'Green Books.' Even though its called 'chiropractic philosophy', it is really more than that...it is vitalistic, it is about living life to the fullest because you have and live by a philosophy!

  • Episode 523: Awe and Wonder

    22/08/2023 Duração: 14min

A rainbow. Stars in the night sky. A sunrise or sunset. How many of us sprint through the day and forget to look up or look around us? One author calls it "Nature Deficit Disorder." Are we so fixated on moving fast that we forget that there are moments of awe and wonder all around us?

  • Episode 522: Taking the Polyvagal Theory to the next level

    15/08/2023 Duração: 14min

Part of my mission is to help more children & adults with Autism, and the best way to spread this message is to promote a different way of understanding how their brains work. That is where the Polyvagal Theory comes in.

  • Episode 521: Live from The Wave -Polyvagaling Pediatric Chiropractic

    08/08/2023 Duração: 25min

The Wave 2023 at Life West had a huge turnout, standing room only, for an incredible weekend. Dr Rubin spoke Friday afternoon about "Polyvagaling Pediatric Chiropractic", giving the chiropractors and chiropractic students concepts on how to apply the Polyvagal Theory in practice.

  • Episode 520: The Triune Brain

    01/08/2023 Duração: 14min

Guest speaker Dr. Amanda Blonigen talks about how to use the concept of the triune brain in determining what sort of adjustments to use on each individual child. She is the co-creator of On-Site Chiropractic, helping chiropractors work with kids within school systems. Find out more about On-Site Chiropractic here: https://www.on-sitechiropractic.com/

  • Episode 519: Take Off Your Tie

    24/07/2023 Duração: 08min

Dr. Dick Santo helped me years ago by challenging what I thought it meant to look, act and speak like a chiropractor!

  • Episode 518: Pivot

    18/07/2023 Duração: 14min

Life always happens. No matter what you do, stuff is going to happen. It's what you do after that counts. Can you 'take a lemon and make a lemonade'? Can you take what might be a challenge and turn it into an opportunity? The key is: can you pivot?

  • Episode 517: Ped Neuro Exam Revisited

    11/07/2023 Duração: 45min

Want a pediatric exam that is adds functional neurology to chiropractic analysis? And that gives you information not only for your assessment but also for home exercise recommendations? Dr Rubin describes a brief but information rich exam procedure in this podcast originally posted in August 2022 and was last year's most listened-to episode.
