HOLLY B QUOTES TRUMP and is a little obsessed with Patricia Hill Collins. In part two of "WWC" with @RuthHasFavor, Holly B and Ruth talk about the importance of representation in culture, film, and politics through tales of Whoopi Goldberg, Diego Luna, and Holly's dad. They talk about being intentional and institutional racism, redlining and subconscious bias regarding "ethnic" names vs "white" names, comprehensive sex education (again, Holly B knows, yet briefly) and Black Wall Street, Affirmative Action and the War on Drugs/Mass Incarceration, Black Feminist Thought and being/becoming an ally, how and when to step in on behalf of another (hint: motivations, filters, audience) and #BlackLivesMatter, the #MatrixofDomination and ICE, the nuance of privilege as the honor of duty and ability and the responsibility of white folks and, for some reason, the Vietnam War. Yeah, so the ladies still wound up naming the episode "White, Woke, and Christian"… Holly's still very uncomfortable about it. In Pt. 1, the ladies talk about what it means to be "woke" and the necessity of humility. They talk first steps and personal experiences, generational gaps and the call to Christians to stand up for the oppressed, #whitefatigue and protesting, loving like Jesus and the stages of open-mindedness, discomfort and chaos, saying "I'm sorry" and the enrichment that comes with diversity, social deconstruction and a brief Biblical history of People of Color, and the fact that People of Color have been oppressed for most of history. Also, as a bonus, Ruth's first theory about Adam and Eve and Holly's genetic makeup, because it just came up. What's the purpose of sex? What commonalities can secular and religious societies find? The ladies address the weaponization of sex, manipulation through sex, rape culture, how sex perpetuates the cycle of poverty, homophobia, how societies' sexual behavior affects society in return, the suppression of male emotions, and how sexual standards and traditional gender roles oppress and disrupt the good for both sexes.
