Nat, Mike and Dan are back in an all-pro line-up after last week's terrible fail. To make up for it they've crammed 46% more references into this week's show, something as useless as it is unprovable... In other news: Dan pioneers movie reviews through noises; it's Lynch vs. Fincher and we all know who's going to come out on top there; Nat gets needlessly aggressive; Mike goes to film festivals; in the NFL, everybody loves Pat McAfee and not just for his virus-control properties; Kap can throw things occasionally; there's a tied game and the entire of America goes mental with anguish; Romo hasn't choked... With Nat on IR this week the Iron One slides into the hosts chair just in time to witness Dan's glorious return from the states and Phil (da Producer) Spooner's glorious return from, um, Stratford and the discussion immediately turns to Scottish independence. Y'know, cos we keep it current. Then we get to Draft Day and all gets better... Nat and Mike are back in the house and for the second week running Mike has taken some of the work off HdP's hands and names the show right up front, a much appreciated thing. Along with that good news is the even better news that All-Pro friend of the show Ben Isaacs is in town to tell us all about College ball, the Bears and the hardships of being an all-round sports journalistic leg-end... In other news: Mike's mum (mom?) made great spaghetti sauce; Ben gives top Wembley travel tips for this Sunday; oh yeah, there's a game at Wembley this Sunday...! Nat and Mike are doing a two-hander this week as Hollywood's in the States, innit? Overcoming his initial trepidation about allowing the two of them to work together without Dan's calming influence, HdP hits record,turns down the volume on the studio monitors and relaxes with a nice bottle of red. Nat and Dan are back in Camden and Mike appears to have vanished since Sunday. Luckily for them but sadly for fans of the After Dark spin-off not one but two fine gentlemen also turn up - recently-minted All-Pro (minus gold jacket) friend of the show David Whitney and new friend of the show Anthony Richardson, a writer and comedian whose prolific output includes... Bad British Sports COmmentary. Seemed like a win to us... Nat and Mike needed a bit of a shake-down tour ahead of the return of the Sunday night Channel 4 game so they arranged for Dan to have a work thing which kept him out of the studio this week while they run down the upcoming season. This means, as it often does, that HdP talks more than he usually does or ever should. Nat, Mike and Dan are... Wait, what? Holy shit! Seems like we've got a full house for the first time in Cutler knows how long, something which can only mean one thing: disagreement and plenty of it. Nat and Dan are getting into the swing of pre-season and have decided to talk about it, record the results and put it on the internet. They have vague memories of doing this before but with someone else too so are over the moon when an extremely funny man who's a big fan of the New York Giants comes to the studio too. His name is David Whitney and they like him a lot. Mike and Dan rock up in Camden with a swing in their step and joy in their heart for a couple of reasons - the big man is BACK after far too long away for one and for the other, incontravertable proof that HdP is a gullable twat always right. Summer is a strange time, a time when three of the four big sports are taking a break and so do the 'Carnage crew, hence a bit of a gap since the last show. Nat, Mike and Dan find themselves in unfamilar surroundings - someone has positioned microphones in front of them and, from through a small double-glased window, some sort of tramp appears to be pressing buttons and adjusting faders. Suddenly it all snaps back! They're in Camden and it's time to dothe first 'Carnage in rather too long! Thankfully, help them through what could otherwise be a shakey evening, it's friend of the show and master of cocktails Mr Paul McFadyen. Then Dan leaves half way through. What the f$%*?! Nat, Mike and Dan are overjoyed to be back together for the first time in what seems like an age (or precisely 'one restraining order' according to our lawyers) but immediately get back into the swing of things, crashing each other's intro's, Mike using the laugh-box, Nat presenting things which went out with the Ark and all that good stuff. As if that's not enough, we've only got the First Lady of Americarnage too, Ms Kelly-Anne Lyons - hell of a fine week folks, hell of a fine week. The big man is back! Mike's trip to R'lyeh America is done and dusted and he can't wait to get into some draft goodness and/or destroying the human race, whichever is easier. This fills Nat with such dread that he completely fails to make it to the studio mucttering something about filming somewhere called Innsmouth, sure that'll work out well. Sliding into the seat between Irony Carlson and the man who is Dan is all-pro 'Carnage guest, luckiest man in journalism and attendee at this year's draft, Mr Ben Isaacs. With the Big Man still Stateside Nat and Dan arrive at the studio to find that neither they nor HdP have sorted a guest this week, someone to help fill the aching void that Irony Mike Carlson leaves in their lives. Then they realise that they've never done a show, y'know, just the two of them, so maybe this could be the start of something beautiful... Nat, Mike and Dan are jubilant this week, for two very good reasons: Firstly, there have been not one but THREE opening days for baseball and the season is away and swinging. So it's stickball season once again and if there's one thing the at Nat, Mike and Dan love it's a bit of fantasy MLB.
