S2 Ep2220: Teaching Tip 377 | “Hosting Sunday Worship -- Part 4” | "Public Prayer" | Malcolm Cox
27/08/2024 Duração: 17minIt is a tremendous privilege to lead a congregation in prayer. 20, 50, 200 people are listening to you intercede with God on their behalf. Who is worthy of such a responsibility? Certainly not me, and probably not you. However, leading others in prayer is a worthy activity. How do we do this in a way that honours God, and edifies the congregation? On neither occasion did I feel welcomed. In my opinion this is the part of our Sunday services which is least well understood in terms of its purpose. Let's put that right in this episode. S2 Ep2220: Teaching Tip 374 | “Hosting Sunday Worship -- Part 1” | Hosting and NT Worship | Malcolm Cox
06/08/2024 Duração: 14minWhy do we do what we do on a Sunday? What's the point of welcoming people, public prayer, the Lord's supper, preaching and the other things we do when we are gathered? It's all too easy to do the same old same old because that's the way it's always been done. Today, we begin a multi-part series exploring the reasons why we do what we do at a Sunday gathering. S2 Ep2218: Quiet Time Coaching Episode 530 | Learn His Lifestyle | A New Creation Part 21 | Malcolm Cox
01/08/2024 Duração: 04minIntroduction A new creation! I'm Malcolm Cox. Welcome to this series on ‘A new creation’. The premise of this series is that God is loving us into spiritual character growth. Jesus is the inspiration for that spiritual character. We are being transformed into his likeness (2 Corinthians 3.18). How does this happen? A key aspect is following Jesus and living as a disciple. Following Jesus changes us, and those changes help us follow him. Today, some thoughts on learning Jesus' lifestyle. Jesus was busy Was Jesus busy? Well, yes, of course. He had so much to do in the three years of his ministry. However, we must blend his intensity of focus with his intimacy with God. Consider the first and second parts of Mark 6.31. He worked hard, and his followers worked hard. So much so that he got hungry, thirsty and tired. However, he recognised that his followers needed refreshment (see also John 4.6). Jesus was not busy Jesus was as busy as he could be, but no busier than his times of refreshment with God cou
