This week's show comes your away just ahead of the Phillies-Braves rain-delayed NLDS Game 2... a night before the Flyers open their 2022-23 season ... and four days prior to a Sunday night Eagles-Cowboys battle at the Linc, the Birds looking to remain unbeaten. A couple of terrific guests join Bill Furman and Jim "Chet" Chesko to talk about all of that -- Hall of Fame baseball writer PAUL HAGEN and former Flyers defenseman CHRIS THERIEN, who (with Wayne Fish) has just written a new book called "Road to Redemption." Plus, Bill, Chet and Bob Vetrone Jr. make their Week 6 NFC East predictions.

What a time to be a Philadelphia sports fan! The Eagles are the NFL's only undefeated team heading into Week 5, the Phillies are heading to the postseason for the first time in 11 years, and the Sixers are inching closer to starting a much-anticipated new season. Oh, the PSU Nittany Lions are still unbeaten, too! With "Chet" off this week, Philly Pressbox Radio welcomes Edge of Philly Sports' Freddy Burns back to the show to talk about all of that with Bill Furman. Plus, Bill, Chet (on video from a far-away vacation spot) and Bob Vetrone Jr. (aka "Boop") make their Week 5 NFC East predictions and more.

Will the Eagles ever lose a game? Can the Phillies get back on track? (Please?) Lots of Birds and Phils talk on this week's Philly Pressbox Radio show, but we sneak in some Flyers and 76ers discussion, too, now that both have opened training camp. We have a great first-time visitor on the show -- the "MacMan," JODY McDONALD, from SportsRadio 44 WIP and Jakib Sports; Jody Mac is never shy about giving his opinion on anything related to the Philly sports scene. Plus, Bill Furman, Jim "Chet" Chesko and Bob Vetrone Jr. ("Boop") make their Week 4 predictions -- Boop will give us some betting tips, too! All of this on "National Drink Beer Day." Cheers!

The Eagles (yay!) and Phillies (c'mon, guys!) get most of the focus, but we squeeze in some Flyers, Sixers and Penn State football talk too, this week. Evan Macy, sports editor of Philly Voice, makes his first visit to Philly Pressbox Radio -- always great to welcome a newcomer to the show! Another Eagles season is under way (hey, a win is a win!) and now the Birds are preparing for their home opener -- a Monday Night Football matchup against the 1-0 Minnesota Vikings. On a special Thursday show this week, we talk with longtime Eagles reporter PAUL DOMOWITCH (writing these days for The 33rd Team and Philadelphia magazine) and St. James H.S. and Villanova alum BILL O'CONNELL, who happens to be the father of Vikings head coach Kevin O'Connell. We squeeze in some Phillies talk, too -- they're continuing their postseason push -- Bill, Chet and "Boop" make their Week 2 predictions ... and maybe one of us will have some things to say about pumpkin beers! On this week's show, Bill and Chet unveil the 2022 nominees for Philly Pressbox Radio's Hall of Fame -- it's our ninth year of adding to our Hall! There's also a whole bunch of Phillies and Eagles talk and a great visit from David Uosikkinen, the drummer of The Hooters and Smash Palace and the man behind the Songs In the Pocket music project -- Dave's a big Philly sports fan, too! Bonus: a cameo appearance by the great Ray Didinger!

Another fun show this week: Baseball talk with Phillies Nation's Tim Kelly and Phils radio analyst Larry Andersen, plus Bill and Chet give their take on the Eagles' preseason opener and the NBA's decision to retire Bill Russell's No. 6 uniform number. It's been quite a week on the Philly sports scene, with the Phillies catching fire and improving their playoff prospects ... and the organization hosting a Wall of Fame weekend that included a controversial visit by hits king Pete Rose. Plus, the Eagles welcomed fans to the Linc Sunday evening ahead of their Friday preseason opener and Dick Vermeil was enshrined in the Pro Football Hall of Fame. We cover all of that and more -- former Eagles special-teams captain Kevin Reilly joins Bill and Chet for all of that fun football stuff!

Now, the former shortstop and current radio sports analyst joins Bill and Chet to talk Phillies and more. (Of course, Kevin tells a Lenny Dykstra story!) We mix in some Eagles and Sixers talk. too, and -- for the heck of it -- a look back at some of the best movies released over the first half of 2022.

Can the Phillies still contend for a spot in the postseason without their MVP? Bill and Chet talk about the Phils' outlook in the wake of the Bryce Harper injury, plus we discuss the Flyers with HockeyBuzz.com's Bill Meltzer. What does Bill think about the hiring of John Tortorella as new head coach and what other moves might the Flyers make to become relevant again? Plus, a fun chat with Asbury Park, NJ-based country-music duo Reagan Richards and Gordon Brown. Their band Williams Honor has just released a great new album, "eX," and it turns out Reagan is something of a Phillies fan!

There's always plenty to talk about on the Philly sports scene, and this week Bill and Chet are joined by former Philly sports anchor Neil Hartman, who these days runs Rowan University's Center for Sports Communication. Edge of Philly Sports' Joey Sheeran makes a return visit to the show to talk about the Philadelphia sports scene with Bill and Chet, plus we have part two of a terrific interview with Phillies PA man extraordinaire Dan Baker. Also, Chet reviews the new Adam Sandler basketball movie, "Hustle," that was shot in Philadelphia last year and will be of interest to all Sixers fans!
