1 Peter 2:1-2. To grow properly into the person God wants you to be, you must first start with the basics. I encourage you to start reading a book like the Gospel of John. Don’t just read it, but study it. Use the cross reference system in your Bible to help you understand what you are reading. Take notes, allow God to reveal things to you. Sit in silence listening for the still small voice of God.

Philippians 2:2. Paul’s joy was filled when he saw those he ministered to grow in their faith in Jesus. Likewise, we should be joyful when those we lead to the Lord start growing in their faith. When was the last time you shared your faith with someone?

Philippians 1:4-6. Someone you know that doesn’t go to church asks you to pray for them. Do you? Or, do you forget to do that. In Philippians 1, Paul says it a joy for him to bring requests to God. When was the last time you prayed for someone else?

Philippians 1:12-18. In this section of Paul’s letter to the Philippians, Paul is encouraging them to be bold in their preaching of Christ despite the troubles he is going through.

Psalm 27:14, 40:1-3. In our world today, it’s difficult to wait on things. Even places like Walmart, Target and Amazon offer same day or 3 hour delivery in some areas. But, the Bible teaches that we must wait on God. While that is hard to do, the Bible also teaches us the importance to waiting on God.

Psalm 27:4, John 15:1-7. David had one desire, one thing he sought after: to abide with God. That should be the desire of each and every Christian today. To abide with God means that we are attached to the vine. Are you living in the vine today?

John 16:20. You may be going through a time of sorrow now, but one day, your sorrow will turn to joy.

Nahum 1:7. This is a great verse to memorize and write down somewhere you can see it regularly. It will help you in your time of trouble.

1 John 2:9-12, 4:20. Do you truly love others the same way that God wants us to? Do a self test today and see if your claims of loving others is actually true, or if you are hiding hate in your heart.

1 John 2:6, John 15:4, 1 Peter 2:21. Apart from Jesus, you or I can do nothing. That is why it is important that we abide in Him. Are you connected to Jesus today?

1 John 2:4, 1:6. Many of us make claims that we know are false. Maybe we do that to try and fit in with people. Maybe we do it so others like us. I don’t know why we make false claims about ourselves, but one thing I do know: those false claims make us a liar.

1 John 1:8-10. When it comes to sin, we are doing 1 of three things. We are either deceiving ourselves into believing we have no sin, or calling God a liar because we don’t admit our sin, or confessing those sins and getting forgiveness and new life through Jesus Christ our Lord. Where are you?

1 John 1:5-7. There is no sin in God, that is why you and I need to be sin free to come to God. Have you accepted Jesus Christ as your Lord and Savior? It’s the only way to get sin free.

John 1:5. Jesus is shining the Light into the darkness of our world. Are you following that Light, or have you rejected that Light?

1 Corinthians 10:6, 11. These things that Paul had written are there to serve as examples to us. Examples of what not to do.

1 Corinthians 10:7-10. We see the word “neither” starting out each verse in these passages. That is significant because Paul is teaching us that these things should not be part of our life. Look at the list he provides, are any of these vices found in your life?

First Corinthians 10:1-5, Numbers 11:1-6, Philippians 3:13-14. Let the past be past. Your past is not going to help you get to your future. For Israel, as they were marching through the wilderness heading to their promised land, they could not let go of the good things of the past. They wanted the past more than they wanted the future. They all had seen the mighty hand of God at work to get them to where they were, but they didn’t trust that mighty hand to get them where they were going. Do you trust the mighty hand of God for your future, or are you going to cling to the good things of the past?

Psalm 84:10, 4. Once you experience the presence of God, there is nothing else like it. Do you desire the presence of God in your life?

Exodus 33:15, Acts 16:6, 2 Thessalonians 2:18, Genesis 12:1-4. We have got to make sure, above all else, that we continually stay in the presence of God.

Ezekiel 36:26, Ephesians 4:22-24, Romans 12:2. We must choose each day whether or not we are going to live for God or live for ourselves. In today’s study, we look at Paul’s instructions to put off the old man and put on the new. Have you changed clothes yet?
