Haggai 1:2-5. At a time in when the Temple lie in ruins, Israel was too busy building up their houses farther than building up the house of God. For us today, we often sacrifice the things of God and the house of God to build up our bank account, our 401 that we neglect the house of God. Where are you building up?

1 Thessalonians 4:13-18. Death is a subject that many of us would rather not discuss. Me too. Paul teaches us and the church at Thessalonica some important principles about death. Things that should bring comfort to the Christian.

Selected verses from 1 Corinthians 1 and Psalm 103. In todays episode, I give you a little taste of mans wisdom, and show how the Bible disproves that wisdom.

2 Chronicles 33:21-23. Unfortunately, Manasseh’s son never repented of his sins. He lived and walked in the way of his father, before his father repented of his sin. As parents, we need to tell our children about Jesus, about God and about the Holy Spirit. If they don’t hear it from you, where will they hear it from?

Selected verses from 2 Chronicles 33. King Manasseh was evil and caused all Israel to sin. As a result of his sin, God led foreign armies to take him captive. When Manasseh begged with God for forgiveness and help, God heard his prayer. Upon returning to Israel, Manasseh got rid of all the strange gods and idols he taught Israel to worship. What sins do you need to rid your life of? What sins causes you to stumble?

Selected Verses from Numbers 32. Don’t settle for just enough, aim to get all the blessings that God has for you.

1 John 1:4

John 20:30-31. Under the inspiration of the Holy Spirit, John wrote the Gospel of John so that we would believe that Jesus is the Messiah, and we would have everlasting life. All the encounters, all the signs, all the miracles John presents in his Gospel are all for that reason. What other sign could you possibly want or need?

1 Corinthians 3:1-3. Paul is teaching the church at Corinth that there was so much more he wanted to teach them, but they were worldly and could not handle it. Imagine what God wants to reveal through us, but we are not mature enough for it either.

1 Corinthians 2:14, 1:17-18, 21-23. To you, is the things of God foolish? If so, then you are looking at things through the worlds point of view. Don’t let the world dictate your view of God. If that’s you, then spend time reading (yes, reading, not listening to, but reading) your Bible. Ask the Spirit to guide you as you read to increase your understanding and knowledge of God.

1 Corinthians 2:9-14. Paul is teaching about true wisdom. The kind of wisdom that comes from God. Are you listening for that wisdom, or following your own wisdom based on the things of this world?

Matthew 7:21-23. If you have works, but no faith in Jesus, you have nothing. The people Jesus talked about in these verses had works enough to go around. But they had no faith. Had they had faith, they would have been sure they were following the will of God for their lives.

Selected verses from James 2. It’s important to have faith in God. But faith alone isn’t enough. It must be proven by the works you do. The works either prove your faith to be true, or prove your faith to be false. Faith without works is dead.

Matthew 14:22-32. Here, we read the account of Peter walking on water towards Jesus. All was fine until Peter took his eyes off of Jesus and looked at what was going on around him. He then sunk. That happens to all of us when we focus on things instead of Jesus.

Selected verses from Romans 6. Each day, we make decisions on what we are going to follow, whether it be the old sin nature, or whether it be the things of God. What are you giving yourself to today?

Hebrews 12:1-3. So that we have the endurance to run the race that God has set out for us, we need to keep focused on Jesus. What are you focused on today?

Selected verses from Exodus 14. When it seems all hope is lost, and there is no way to escape, God will make a way.

Selected verses from Exodus 3-4. God laid out His calling and task for Mosses. Yet, Moses still doubted, questioned and made excuses for why he was not the man for the job. If God has called you into something, He will equip you to do what He has called you to do.

Psalm 46:10, 1 Kings 19:11-12. When it seems like everything around you is falling apart, be still. When it seems that your world is crashing down around you, be still. God is your strength, He is your refuge, He is your help in times of trouble, be still.

James 4:10, Psalm 40:1-3. This is, arguably, the most important step of them all. If you are not willing to humble yourself before the Lord, you will never accomplish the rest of the steps to draw near to God. Are you willing to humble yourself today?
