God’s Purpose In the Church God wants all men saved (1Tim 2:3-5), and this is how all men will know Christ has disciples, because they love one another (Jn 13:35). The church is perhaps the most practical way in which God will show the world that His love and His purpose are both practical and powerful.

Fruit to the Father’s Glory God has likened His purpose in His people since the early days Israel, the nation (Exod 15:17; Psa 80:8; Isa 5:2; Jer 2:21). Jesus taught His apostles the night He was betrayed, He Himself was the “true vine” of God’s purpose for a fruitful people. God’s illustration and His eternal purpose for the church make it clear that the Father desires in His people fruit that glorifies Him (Luke 6: 1-49; Jn 15:8; Eph 3:20-21).

The Paralytic and Faith in Christ Jesus reminds His disciples to consider carefully how they listen to the word (8:18). Luke records as part of the certainty of things taught that faith in Christ Jesus is always a blessing (Luke 5:17-26).

Take a Break in the Spring The Lord wants to give us more than a break from our routine, though He commanded enough Jewish feasts for us to know that He understands human need to get away and refocus. God wants to give us a break from our selves and our sin. We find the peace, relief, and life God offers us by trusting in Him.
