At the very beginning of Jesus' ministry he chose to get baptized and spend 40 days in the Wilderness. 40 days in the nothingness of the desert because he was bringing something new. It's interesting that before Jesus taught or performed any miracles he chose to go immediately into the wilderness after his baptism. The Spirit called him to go to the desert for 40 days, to wander, to feel hunger pains, to be tested and to fulfill his role as the New Moses. What can Jesus' model of going into the wilderness show us about testing our callings in life?

Before Jesus taught or performed miracles a voice called him into the wilderness to be tested for 40days. In the Wilderness a different voice spoke to him. A voice that conquered every man before. Jesus succeeded where we all have failed because he is the New Adam. What voices are you giving power in your life? What voices are pulling you forward and which are lying to you? What voices are keeping us in the wilderness, when we are meant to live in a garden?

This is a bittersweet Sunday. We not only commissioned our lead pastor Aaron Loy to go and plant more churches, but we commissioned Bill Radtke to lead our community as Interim Pastor. This is an intimate look into our church, and to hear our vision for the next chapter of Mosaic's story.
