“Parable” = a story that has a spiritual point. For several years, one of the biggest entertainment crazes in Hollywood has been the stories of Marvel & DC comic book heroes. “Where do these superheroes come from? How did they get their powers? What is their duty to mankind now that they have these powers?” These are the questions that have us flocking to the theatres. Inside of each of these creative stories are deep spiritual truths—lessons that will challenge us to seek a deeper relationship with God. Very recently (April/May 2011), we did a sermon/Mo Group series at Momentum called “Reverb” where we encouraged people to learn (and tell) a few key stories from the Bible. We also challenged them to consider how they might tell their own stories – to anyone who is listening – about life, faith, hardship, and celebration. This week, Dave Brunelle, Senior Pastor of The Rock Church (Garfield Hts.) will tell you part of his story.  

Very recently (April/May 2011), we did a sermon/Mo Group series at Momentum called “Reverb” where we encouraged people to learn (and tell) a few key stories from the Bible. We also challenged them to consider how they might tell their own stories – to anyone who is listening – about life, faith, hardship, and celebration. This week, Dan Smith (Mo’s Lead Minister) will tell you his story. As usual, it will be pretty transparent, humorous, and appropriate for anyone who is thinking about checking out Mo for the first time

This Sunday is a special service where we will give you some of the resources that you might need to help you take your “next step.” It won’t freak you out; we won’t draw attention to anyone in the crowd; but it may be very helpful to get you moving in the direction you want to be moving, if you are seeking God. Moses didn’t think he had what it took to be a leader. After all, when God asked him to be a leader Moses was short-tempered; he spoke with a stutter; and he was “just a shepherd.” However, God later showed Moses that it was His power that was important in the equation, and He used Moses to lead all of the Israelites out of Egyptian slavery. Now Moses is wandering through the desert with 2 million people looking to him as their miracle-working leader. They’re all hungry and thirsty with no 7-Eleven in sight. At times they mention they’d prefer going back to being slaves. Oh and btw Moses, there’s a group of people called the Amalekites who wanna kill all of you, too. So – Charlton Heston – what’s your next move?
