What's German for transfer talk?
18/05/2020 Duração: 26minOn this Monday's show we look back at some games in the Bundesliga from the weekend with a Manchester United perspective. I then chat about the hate Erling Haaland received after Borussia Dortmund's big win over rivals Schalke. 12: Episode 55 - Ramblings & The new Spanish kid
11/05/2020 Duração: 45minA new week, still very much in lockdown. There's constant talk about the Premier League making a return and people are debating endlessly about whether it's safe or not. Some of it doesn't even make sense.Anyhow, we have something different on the podcast this week. Stretty News columnist Paul Rowles joins us to discuss his latest Ramblings. We discuss whether there is a need to sign a centre-back this summer, if Ferguson actually contributed to United's fall from grace, and Louis van Gaal taking some responsibility. That is followed by a quick chat with Barcelona fan Navid Molaaghaei about La Masia's latest star Marc Jurado, who is about to join Manchester United! Patreons can watch that interview in full (video) via patreon.com/strettynews. Your support is what helps us grow.Patreons gain access to 5 videos per week!Keep track of Manchester United news. 11: Episode 54 - Marcos Rojo's Corona Poker Classic
07/05/2020 Duração: 01h05minThis week Dale and Mike discuss a lot of politics as well as Marcos Rojo breaking lockdown rules and enjoying a smoke with friends in Argentina. We also take a look at the United trinity or, as Mike says, Manchester United's very own Led Zeppelin. George Best, Denis Law and Sir Bobby Charlton in the same team was something special. The Strettycast wants your all-time Manchester United XI - but take the instructions on board from this podcast. There must be a reason for your choices - not just the best player in each position to have played for the club. Send your XIs via Twitter to @Strettycast and we'll read some of them out on next Thursday's show. Hosted on Acast. See acast.com/privacy for more information. Learn more about your ad choices. 9: Episode 52 - Alex Stepney
30/04/2020 Duração: 36minThis is an interview that we are very proud of, and we've had to do it using FaceTime rather than face-to-face due to the current situation in the world with COVID-19. However, it was an absolute pleasure to have a chat with former Manchester United goalkeeper Alex Stepney on Thursday morning. We talk about his introduction to football (being told he wouldn't make it) and becoming a European Cup winner in 1968, being part of the first English team to do so and beating a Eusebio-driven Benfica side. That was an incredible dressing room to be part of under the guidance of Sir Matt Busby and Jimmy Murphy. Alex is very open, easy to talk to and we are thrilled he took some time out of his day to chat to us. I hope you enjoy it. Support Stretty News on Patreon: Patreon.com/strettynews Hosted on Acast. 27/04/2020 Duração: 31minThe BBC ran a poll asking readers to vote for the best British football manager. It comes as no surprise that Sir Alex Ferguson won it but how on earth did Sir Matt Busby only got 1% of the votes -- the same as Kenny Dalglish!A special thanks to Pete Molyneux for joining me for today's chat. He has been going to games in 1964 and is always interesting to listen to. Hosted on Acast. See acast.com/privacy for more information. Learn more about your ad choices. 9: talkSPORT Interview: Dale reflects on Mourinho and Pogba feud
27/09/2018 Duração: 13minIn the early hours of Thursday morning, we appeared on talkSPORT to offer some insight on the showdown between Manchester United manager Jose Mourinho and Paul Pogba. The station has generously sent over an audio file of the brief segment for Stretty News to share. We just wanted to talk about football and Manchester United, but these headlines are not going away and they shouldn’t go ignored. But, as situations go, this is getting in the way of what matters most. And, that’s the club. United are struggling for results and there is no doubt that Mourinho and Pogba share some of the blame. Neither individual is handling the situation well and it’s acting as another grey cloud over the club. Anyhow, take a listen and let us know what you think. Hosted on Acast. 8: Liam Miller Tribute - featuring Roy Keane and Ryan Giggs
26/09/2018 Duração: 17minManchester United, Republic of Ireland and Celtic legends pay tribute to fallen hero, Liam Miller, at Pairc Ui Chaoimh. Amid the pain of loss, there were tears of emotional pride as the Miller family marvelled at world football rallying to honour Liam's life. In the autumn sunshine, I travelled to Co. Cork and met local Dj Stevie Grainer, United We Stand editor Andy Mitten and Dublin based photographer Peter O'Doherty. Topics such as the music scene between Cork and Manchester are discussed, with Grainger heavily involved in both after gigging in venues such as the iconic Hacienda. This podcast also includes coverage of the tribute match itself, in honour of Liam Miller, and access to press conferences with Martin O'Neill, John Hartson, Stiliyan Petrov and Roy Keane, Ryan Giggs, David May. The podcast duration is shorter than most but equally valuable as others. Sit back with a cuppa and enjoy! Hosted on Acast. See acast.com/privacy for more information. 7: Champions League Special - Can Man Utd go all the way?
18/09/2018 Duração: 55minManchester United kick-off their Champions League campaign against Swiss side Young Boys this week. Dale is joined by Paul and Jonathan on this week's Strettycast. Philip featured throughout but was rudely interrupted on a number of occasions by super agent Jorge Mendes, who has it in for our podcast since last season... It would be crazy to write off our chances just yet, although it's unlikely United will go all the way in this season's competition but the least the lads want to see is Jose Mourinho's men give it a shot. Whatever Paul Pogba tells you, in 2018 the pinnacle of football is the UEFA Champions League and even though it looks like it will take some time before we see United lift it again, you've got to start a new campaign with an open mind. This time last season, you would have laughed if I said Liverpool would go on to reach the 2018 final in Kiev... thankfully, that's about it. They had nothing to show for it at full-time. 6: Interview: Football coach Gary Curneen on Jose Mourinho
10/09/2018 Duração: 54minDale is delighted to be joined by football coach and author Gary Curneen, originally from Northern Ireland but currently working in the United States as assistant manager to the Chicago Red Stars. Curneen is a United fan, who studied Mourinho's management at a Real Madrid coaching event in Los Angeles some years ago. He tells us about the influence Mourinho has had on his career and how he's still one of the very business in football. We also take a look at how football has evolved down the years and how Pep Guardiola has helped reshape football after winning domestic titles with Barcelona, Bayern Munich and Manchester City. How Jurgen Klopp puts entertainment first and the incredible job Michael O'Neill is doing as Northern Ireland manager - in comparison to Martin O'Neill for the Republic of Ireland. Enjoy the show and we'll be back with the usual podcast next week. You can follow Gary Curneen on Twitter: @GaryCurneen Stretty News Twitter: @StrettyNews Email: dale@strettynews.com Hosted on Acast. 5: How many players has Mourinho improved at Man Utd?
05/09/2018 Duração: 01h08minManchester United got back to winning ways with a convincing 2-0 win over Burnley, who are having a disaster season thus far and probably face a relegation fight unless things pick up. Dale is joined this week by Raman and Mike to discuss the game and other matters ahead of the international break. Marouane Fellaini put in a solid display against The Clarets, therefore, deserves praise and Luke Shaw continued his great form to win Manchester United Player of the Month for August. Worryingly, there were few players to compete with Shaw for that reward, as Raman points out Paul Pogba has yet to put in a performance better than our other midfielders this season. He's a World Cup winner now. The go-to guy. It's time he realises that and takes responsibility. There won't be a podcast next week due to the international break.
