Episode 96 - United put NINE past Southampton
03/02/2021 Duração: 38minManchester United win 9-0. Eight different scorers against Southampton: Aaron Wan-Bissaka, Marcus Rashford, own goal, Edinson Cavani, Anthony Martial x2, Scott McTominay, Bruno Fernandes, Daniel James. Biggest win since 1995 - though that game against Ipswich didn't have VAR making crazy decisions. Episode 95 - Ben Thornley - Class of 92 interview
02/02/2021 Duração: 44minDale had the pleasure of being joined by Ben Thornley for a special interview this week. After shining amongst the Class of 92 and being tipped to become a regular in Sir Alex Ferguson's side, Thornley suffered a devastating injury against Blackburn Rovers. Nowadays he commentates on United games for MUTV and is one of few lucky enough to be attending matches at the moment. We talk a bit about that and how United are doing this season. We hope you enjoy the conversation and plan to bring more interviews like this in the future. Follow @Strettycast on Twitter! Email the show: dale@strettynews.com Hosted on Acast. 31/01/2021 Duração: 49minThis episode of the Strettycast is a reaction to Manchester United's goalless stalemate with Arsenal at the Emirates. Episiode 92 - Knocking the Scousers out of the FA Cup
25/01/2021 Duração: 46minManchester United went toe-to-toe with Liverpool at Anfield, stuck the sword in and rode victorious into the fifth-round of the FA Cup. Dale is joined by Mike to run through the game and Jermain Jenas' shocking co-commentary on BBC One. Manchester United won 3-2 on the day and knocked Liverpool out of the FA Cup. Goals from Mason Greenwood, Marcus Rashford and Bruno Fernandes sealed the win. Mohamed Salah scored twice for the Scousers. Jurgen Klopp's men were lucky not to have had two players sent off but remember it's only United who get favoured treatment from match officials. Episode 91 - Top of the league going to Anfield (special guest Ste from EOTK)
13/01/2021 Duração: 45minDale and Mike give a quick review of Manchester United's 1-0 win over Burnley. The win saw Manchester United move three points clear at the top of the Premier League. Liverpool, who are sat in second place, are our opponents this weekend so we had Ste Carson (@sjrcarson) -- a leading writer from Empire of the Kop (LFC blog) -- join us to chat about their season to date and being champions after a 30-year wait. Ste gives an outsider's perspective on the influence Bruno Fernandes has had at United as well as the work Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has done. Listen to our predictions and let us know what you think. Episode 90 - Gracias Greg Clarke
10/01/2021 Duração: 35minDale and Mike reflect on Manchester United's 1-0 win over Watford in the FA Cup. The Reds' attention will turn to the FA Cup draw on Monday night (8pm) but for now, kick your feet up and listen to the lads discuss a pretty dull 90 minutes of football. A "professional" display argues Dale, while Mike argues there's a need for a new right-back to compete with Aaron Wan-Bissaka after Brandon Williams got the nod on Saturday night. We will have another episode before United travel to Anfield. To contact the show email dale@strettynews.com or follow @Strettycast on Twitter. Episode 88 - Spending the New Year with Ole
30/12/2020 Duração: 44minManchester United finish 2020 in second place behind leaders Liverpool. The quest for the New Year will be to build on that and challenge for the Premier League title. It's too early to speak about us winning the league, but it's great to see United back in the mix again. Dale and Mike chat about the last three games -- how we predicted a win over Everton and got four points from the games against Leicester City and Wolves. Next up is Aston Villa in the league. Episode 87 - Where are Manchester United under Solskjaer right now? [Christmas special]
23/12/2020 Duração: 35minDale and Mike catch up after the 6-2 win over Leeds United. We look forward to tonight's Carabao Cup quarter-final against Everton, and the next Premier League match versus Leicester City on Boxing Day. The league looks promising as it stands but this is where we urge the team to show consistency -- but an away trip to Leicester won't be an easy contest. The Reds were excellent against Leeds but defensive mishaps reappear on a weekly basis. Ole Gunnar Solskjaer must raise this with the board and try to sort something out in the January transfer window. The lads agree that Solskjaer needs to win a trophy this season, but we look at where United are after two years under the Norwegian. We've plenty of reasons to be happy this Christmas. Or are we talking too soon about a side that has dropped due to inconsistency so many times in recent history? Hosted on Acast. See acast.com/privacy for more information. Episode 86 - Paul Pogba is the Boris Johnson of Manchester United, time for Ronaldo to come home?
16/12/2020 Duração: 01h02minManchester United are out of the Champions League, but could find themselves in the Premier League title race. With two games in hand on some of the teams above us (United are ninth), Dale and Mike have another discussion on all things United related. We couldn't skip the latest episode surrounding Paul Pogba, which Mike uses to compare the Frenchman to British Prime Minister Boris Johnson. The lads give their thoughts on Pogba's agent Mino Raiola and how Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is handling the situation. Next up for the Reds is a trip to Sheffield United in the Premier League on Thursday night. We may as well get used to playing on Thursday nights again. Hosted on Acast. Episode 85 - El Matador
01/12/2020 Duração: 47minThe Reds recovered from two goals down to record a stunning win at St. Mary's on Sunday. Southampton took a 2-0 lead into half-time but an injury time winner from Edinson Cavani made the headlines. 'El Matador' came off the bench in the second half to assist Bruno Fernandes with a brilliant delivery into the box before scoring two goals of his own in a match-winning performance. Mike's changed his tune on Cavani while Dale continues to push his Ole agenda, which is probably becoming a bromance at this stage. Episode 84 - The Guardian's Jamie Jackson on Ole Gunnar Solskjaer
25/11/2020 Duração: 35minDale catches up with author and Guardian journalist Jamie Jackson to discuss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer. After writing The Red Apprentice, a biography on Solskjaer, Jackson appears as a special guest on The Strettycast to offer some insight on how the Norwegian operates as Manchester United manager. We also take a look at the most recent transfer window as Jackson reveals Liverpool are interested in a player United wanted to sign last summer... Moreover, this intriguing conversation will give you a taste of Solskjaer and what his version of the hairdryer treatment is really like. Some people think Solskjaer is too soft in his approach -- a pushover almost -- but in this episode of the Strettycast we learn that is not the case behind the scenes, Jackson’s new book goes into terrific detail about Solskjaer’s upbringing, bursting onto the scene in Norway and how his move to Manchester United came about. It can be picked up now via Amazon. P.S The Guardian journalist claims Manchester United have no intentions of sac

Episode 82 - Andy Carroll's street heading ring
23/11/2020 Duração: 40minDale is joined by Mike to discuss whether football cares about it’s players. The answer is no - but you need to listen to hear our reasons… Episode 82 has references to the illegal art of street heading, founded by Andy Carroll, as well as some Casey Stoney admiration. We share our views on how the Daily Mail launched a pathetic attack on Marcus Rashford. There’s a reference to a brilliant column, written by Jonathan Liew for the Guardian, which describes the sinister attack on a young black man. Although it's difficult to predict what sort of performance we will get from the lads this weekend, United are expected to claim three points from their home meeting with West Brom. Former United goalkeeper Sam Johnstone will be between the posts for the Baggies, and he's been talking about the impact David de Gea has had on his career, in the lead up to the match. Apologies - this podcast was delayed a week, so is slightly behind. Hosted on Acast. See acast.com/privacy for more information. Learn more about your

Episode 81 - Edinson Cavani off the mark
09/11/2020 Duração: 50minDale and Mike return to discuss Manchester United's 3-1 win over Everton at Goodison Park. A lot of United's players will leave their Carrington camp for the November international break, so that means we will be taking a break from the usual post-match show for a week. Bruno Fernandes scored twice and registered an assist for Edinson Cavani as United beat Everton 3-1. Bernard scored Everton's only goal and it was the match's opener, but thankfully United responded the right way and came from behind to take all three points from their travels. Next up for United in the league is West Brom. Surely we'll beat them! Follow @Strettycast on Twitter - check StrettyNews.com for the latest Manchester United news Hosted on Acast. Episode 80 - Respect for Solskjaer still strong regardless of what happens
06/11/2020 Duração: 33minStretty News editor Dale O'Donnell is joined by one of the blog's leading writers Ben Parsons to chat as pressure mounts on Ole Gunnar Solskjaer as manager after Manchester United's latest defeat against Istanbul. It's a tough time for any football fan when the media is speculating over the manager getting sacked, and it doesn't help that Mauricio Pochettino is waiting on the wings for a call from Ed Woodward. That pressure has always existed, though. Since Solskjaer got the job on a full-time basis there has been always been talk about Pochettino. Not helped by our form, which has been up and down, but it's arguably more real now than ever. Dale gives his views on Solskjaer - a man he and Ben still hold utmost respect for - and they both ask what is the next step as United find themselves in the mud after a poor start to the 2020-21 campaign. Episode 79 - Talking Sir Alex Ferguson with author of Even The Defeats
03/11/2020 Duração: 01h02minEven the Defeats - How Sir Alex Ferguson used setbacks to inspire Manchester United's greatest triumphs, by John Silk (published by Pitch Publishing) Here's a special bonus episode of the Strettycast, in which I chat to John Silk about his brand new book 'Even the Defeats'. It's about the great Sir Alex Ferguson and how he drew inspiration from losses to mastermind some of United's greatest triumphs. Follow John on Twitter @JSilk - and you can pick up the book from your local bookshop or online via Amazon. -- A heavy 5-1 loss at Manchester City in Ferguson's early tenure led pundits and supporters to question the Scot's position, but by the season's end he was holding aloft his first trophy at the club -the FA Cup. This trend continued when an end-of-season collapse handed Leeds United the league title in the spring of 1992, only to galvanise United to their first championship in 26 years the very next year. From struggles in Europe to winning the treble, from losing the title on goal difference to their city

Episode 78 - Time to ship Paul Pogba
02/11/2020 Duração: 52minDeflated after Arsenal defeat Hey listeners, we're back with our podcast and unfortunately the circumstances aren't great. Dale and Mike discuss yesterday's 1-0 defeat against Arsenal at Old Trafford. We were looking forward to the match and did not expect such an underwhelming performance after beating RB Leipzig 5-0 midweek, so it feels horrible. Thanks for your questions. Hosted on Acast.
