Sinopse

This is a podcast about people. A collection of stories from across the globe. Let's face it, we are all pretty dang busy these days. With a limited budget, and even more scarce vacation days, it can be hard to look beyond your day to day life. We keep hearing the benefits of travel such as the sparks of creativity, the understanding of people and cultures, and the digging into yourself to see whats inside. Although I can't provide everything travel has to offer through the convenience of your earbuds, what I can do is let you meet people you would never normally met. Meet poets in London, chefs in southern Germany, ghost hunters in Seattle, and an architect in Malaysia. They are all here, and generously share their stories so that we can see a different side of life. These are real stories, told by real people, that really live on the same planet we do, and the more people I meet the more I realize that despite our differences we are all just humans trying to survive on the same rock we call Earth. We are all people.

Episódios

  • Superman

    27/03/2018 Duração: 46min

(Episode 30) Phuket, Thailand. Chaliao Srisut, aka Sek, never had it easy. Learning how to fish at three, paying for his own school at eleven, and venturing out into the world at fourteen, Chaliao grew up working and helping support his family. What that gave him though, was an unbreakable will. Building up to his current restaurant was not easy. When he moved to Phuket, Chaliao went fifteen days without food before he got his first paycheck. He had to scavenge the fruit off of trees to survive. The surprising part about his story isn't the incredible hardship, but the fact that despite it all he had a giant smile on his face. He is the life of the real life superman of Phuket.Taina BBQ Seafood and BarSUPPORT THE SHOW ON PATREONFollow me on InstagramSubscribe to the ShowWrite us a ReviewMusic by Charlie Millikin See acast.com/privacy for privacy and opt-out information.

  • We are not our Politics

    29/11/2017 Duração: 47min

(Episode 21) London, England. The world today is dominated by politics, but Mohamed Hussein shares a different story. Mohamed was born a refugee. The beginning of his life was chaos, but also instilled a beautiful perspective. After spending most of his life in Norway, Mohamed decided he needed to see more. Hilariously, he embarked on a journey that parallels my own in a quest to see the United States. This interview was one of the most refreshing conversations I've had in quite some time. It reminded me why, even in the midst of all the problems, I am proud of where I come from. It reminded me that we, as a nation, are not our politics.SUPPORT THE SHOW ON PATREON Follow me on InstagramSubscribe to the ShowWrite us a ReviewMore about our Trip!Music by Charlie Millikin See acast.com/privacy for privacy and opt-out information.

  • Poets for Hire

    15/11/2017 Duração: 36min

(Episode 20) London, England. Luke and Edmond sit on the side of the Thames river writing poems every single day, and they absolutely love it. How they got there is a winding tale that reminded me that success is an ambiguous word that you, and you alone, define. Maybe money, prestige, and notoriety are not what make us happy, and struggle is a great teacher for finding true happiness. Luke and Edmond's story proves that the simple things, such as making someones day with a poem, brings a joyous life.  SUPPORT THE SHOW ON PATREON Follow me on InstagramSubscribe to the ShowWrite us a ReviewMore about our Trip!Music by Charlie Millikin See acast.com/privacy for privacy and opt-out information.

(Episode 11) Columbus, Ohio. Chirayu’s story really hit home so I decided to do a round two, but this time with his parents. The Patel’s are hall of fame parents. Barely knowing each other when they were married Mr. and Mrs. Patel battled through Chirayu’s early health conditions, navigated multiple large moves including to America, and hustled until they paid for their kids education. It’s a fantastic story about two parents who gave up everything for the future of their children, and now get to see their kids build on what they achieved. A nice reminder of the sacrifices most of our past relatives made, and what America is all about.SUPPORT THE SHOW ON PATREONFollow me on InstagramSubscribe to the ShowWrite us a ReviewMore about our Trip!Music by Charlie Millikin See acast.com/privacy for privacy and opt-out information.
