Plenty to discuss on what is a bit of an emergency podcast thanks to some pretty significant developments that began over the weekend and officially popped on Monday afternoon. Iowa athletics has a gambling issue among at least 26 student-athletes. Kyle Huesmann joins the pod to discuss it. He talks about how this story started at the baseball game on Friday when star Keaton Anthony was not in the lineup. We rundown what we know and what the fallout might end up being. Then we talk some Iowa baseball heading into the final two series of the season and discuss a pair of commitments on Monday, one for Iowa football and the other for Iowa basketball.

It was a pretty significant day for the Iowa football program, so we had to discuss it on the podcast. Iowa landed top transfer wide receiver target Kaleb Brown from Ohio State. He was a Top 100 player last year. We discuss his impact and the role that Cade McNamara played in being able to land him on his official visit. Does this make Iowa the favorite in the Big Ten West? Then we also talk about a new commitment from the Class of 2024 and give a prediction on another offensive lineman heading to the Hawkeyes. Finally we talk a little NFL Draft and Iowa hoops.

It’s a busy podcast this week. The Iowa women’s hoops team is off to the Sweet 16! They beat Georgia on Sunday at a loud Carver-Hawkeye Arena. Tom Kakert and Kyle Huesmann visit about the win over the Bulldogs and how the Hawkeyes were able to move on. We also discuss the Iowa men’s hoops team fall to Auburn and the long list of questions for Fran McCaffery’s team heading into the off-season. Finally, we look back at the Iowa wrestlers finishing second in at the NCAA Championships and the stunning loss by Spencer Lee and then wrap up talking about the 15-3 Iowa baseball team, who swept South Dakota State this weekend.

Our good friend Chad Leistikow from the Des Moines Register joins us to discuss his reporting on the story and if Iowa AD Gary Barta could end up being let go from his job. We discuss the greatness of Caitlin Clark and if Iowa is a one seed. Then we talk men’s hoops and the disappointing loss to Nebraska that dropped Iowa to a five seed in the Big Ten Tournament. We then jump to Iowa baseball and their best start since 2015, after a three game weekend sweep. We also talk Iowa wrestling and Spencer Lee and Real Woods winning individual titles and wrap up talking about Iowa football players crushing the NFL Combine.

The Iowa basketball team went on the road and picked up one of their most impressive wins of the season at Indiana. We look back at the win over the Hoosiers and how the Hawkeyes jumped on them early and never gave up the lead. We discuss the great performances by Kris Murray, Tony Perkins, Filip Rebraca, and Payton Sandfort. We also look at Iowa now likely to get a double bye in the Big Ten Tournament and the University of Iowa potentially settling the lawsuit with former football players.

It was a historic day for Iowa baseball and basketball on Saturday afternoon. The Hawkeye baseball team went down to Texas and knocked off #1 LSU by the score of 12-4 and the Hawkeye basketball team rallied from down 10 with under a minute left to beat Michigan State at Carver-Hawkeye Arena. Kyle Huesmann and Tom Kakert break down both games and the impact that the wins will have on each program and we preview the Iowa women’s game against Indiana on Sunday afternoon.

Another road loss for the Hawkeyes and it was a second straight game where Iowa really struggled from three point range. Tom Kakert and Matt Randazzo breakdown the loss at Wisconsin and the concerns for this Iowa team and their lack of confidence shooting the basketball from three point range. We also discuss where they sit when it comes to the NCAA Tournament and if they are now on the bubble.
